I snagged this little meme from Rae who — as I mention frequently — is one of my very fave bloggers. Like her, I spent a lot of years on Livejournal and miss the dorky community aspects like twenty question memes and those super dumb-fun “What are you doing right this second?” ones! Who can resist rattling things off about themselves?

1. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

The very very first thing I do is turn off Sleep Cycle and crawl out of bed to head for the bathroom. If it’s less necessities-of-being-human and more ways-to-spend-wake-up-time, I usually check social media: LJ (It still exists! like, maybe one person I like still uses it!) then Tumblr (Just for messages/notifications.) then Facebook, Instagram, and finally Twitter. This routine takes maaaaaaybe ten minutes? I don’t follow a lot of people and a lot of the ones I do are on the west coast, so I’m two hours ahead of everyone.

2. What is the 3rd picture on your phone? Share it!

This is super appropriate since the recipient of this card’s birthday is today! Happy birthday, friend!

3. What TV show are you most excited about returning this Fall?

Parks and Recreation! I watch a lot of TV, but don’t actually keep up with very much while it’s actually airing, but I am almost always up on P&R.

4. What is something really popular that you secretly (or not so secretly) loathe?

I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that people who dislike popular things usually dislike them because they’re popular and that’s dumb. I loathe almost nothing, anyway, because I’d rather spend my time loving and obsessing and being enthusiastic toward the things I like. I don’t watch Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead or Mad Men and have no interest or intention to. That’s about as close as I get to loathing popular culture.

5. Do you have any pets? Tell us about them! Bonus points for pictures.

In this household we have four dogs and two cats. I consider three of the dogs my siblings, one of them my niece, and the cats as my children. It’s complicated.

6. If you could put together one outfit that represents you perfectly, what would it be?

Yoga pants and a tank top with a hoodie nearby for when I inevitably get chilly. I am un/under-employed/a housewife, so I don’t get dressed unless I have to. If I’m leaving the house, give me some leggings and a dress and however many layers of whatever I need to stay warm. If it’s hot, flip flops or my grandma slip-ons, if it’s cool, Converse with socks, and if it’s snowing, my ugly snow boots. I was less lazy before we moved to North Dakota, but not by much. If you really must imagine my outfits, just imagine a thick-slather of Mac’s Ruby Woo because that is my essence.

7. What is your favorite adult beverage?
WYDER’S. PEAR. CIDER. The fact that I cannot purchase this in North Dakota is absolutely pure agony and it makes me angry on a near-daily basis. I like a nice sparkling Moscato because I am extraordinarily fancy. I also like a Captain’s Cream Soda or a Jack and Coke if I’m drinking and if I want to get drunk, I dispense with flavor and go hard on shots of cheap whatever. I’m 28, I’m supposed to be an adult, but I will still get into your swimming pool and get drunk on Goldschläger willingly and joyfully.

8. What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

I feel no guilt over any of the things I enjoy. Life is just way too fucking short and way too full of wonderful things. Bless ’em all.

9. What are 3 positive words to describe you?

Weird, loyal, hilarious.

10. What is your favorite Friday afternoon/evening activity?

Fun! Pizza! Friday! When we were still living in L.A. and thus had access to not only decent, but incredible pizza at low, low prices — $6 for a large pepperoni at Dalia’s — we’d grab pizza and a RedBox movie and watch it really loud and excitedly while drinking trash juice — Diet Mountain Dew and vodka — and generally being obnoxious. It is, by far, one of my favorite ways to spend time. We haven’t done it since we’ve been in North Dakota because the pizza here should be ashamed of itself.

11. A day in the life: What does you typical day look like?

Wake up, do the things required of my humanity, get on my computer for a while, pull out my planner and figure out what things I want/need to get done, do some of those things, fart around on the computer a lot, maybe write some stuff, maybe read, maybe marathon a television show. Sometimes I take on dinner duties, sometimes I wait to be called to dinner around the time my gf gets home. Chill with family for a while, head downstairs, play Mario Kart with my gf, mess around on the computers, go to bed. We are exceptionally boring people and since I am listless and job-less, my days feel like weird stretches of nothing interspersed with cleaning and weird projects. It’s okay.

12. If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be?

I would return to Southern California immediately. If we’re dreaming big, it’d preferably be in a Case Study house and ideally in Stahl House. If I had to choose somewhere outside of California… God, I don’t even think I could. Maybe Las Vegas? In a terrace one bedroom at the Cosmopolitan with a view of the fountains at the Bellagio.

13. You’ve got a whole day to yourself…what will you do?

It would look a lot like my regular days to be quite honest. If I had less human interaction/noise to contend with I’d probably stay in bed reading all day and drifting in and out of naps, especially on a winter day. Glorious.

14. Dream job?

I’d like a full-time writing job making a truly livable wage with benefits in Los Angeles. Or I’d like to own and run a small dive-y bar and restaurant. Or a tacky-ass gift shop near a beach.

15. Least favorite chore?

Scooping the cat box, oh my god. I have to make a bargain with myself every single day to take the five minutes to do it. I also really hate dusting.

16. When do you most feel like a rock star?

When I’m dressed and Ruby Woo-ed and wearing sunglasses while driving my car and jamming to something loud and substantial. One of the things I miss most about California is being cool and obnoxious in traffic.

17. What is something you are currently trying to improve within yourself?

I would like to find and embrace that thing… What’s it called? Oh right, motivation. I have a finished novel that I’d like to sell and I know all the ways I want to fix and change it, but I can’t get myself to open the stupid file and do it. I’m sure it’s all complicated and really about how finishing the book will lead to trying to sell the book which will lead to a string of painful rejections, but. Y’know. Motivation.
