Hello! It is October! My favorite time of year is in full swing and I am very much enjoying driving around and oohing and aahing at all the beautiful fall tableaus and also being delighted by how many people decorate for Halloween! We had just moved this time last year, so we didn’t see much of the Halloween show, so that’s been extremely fun this year.

Okay, on to the things!

I have had the hardest time listening to music lately and it’s been driving me crazy. I was under an unusual amount of stress for a while and stress can make me need quiet in a way I really don’t usually, but that time has passed (mostly) and now I’m just annoyed. I need to hear nice sounds! Nice sounds are integral to who I am as a person! And yet there I am doing my job in dead silence like 75% of the time! Like a serial killer!

Anyway! The stuff I have listened to has been pretty good: she’s green, who I found by scrolling bandcamp for bands based in Minneapolis and who I love because they’re kind of Cocteau Twins-y, which is great! I’m enjoying Slothrust’s new album even though it’s not quite what I was expecting! I’ve been listening to the 1989 Cowboy Junkies album The Trinity Session because “Misguided Angel” came on shuffle and I’m easily influenced.

Other stuff I’ve enjoyed lately: Chuck Klosterman, those Emma M. Lion books (I’m halfway through the fourth one atm.) even though I don’t necessarily understand the hype at all, the first couple of Fast & Furious movies, the slippers I just got, and sleeping under a heated blanket — the battle I waged in my brain about whether it was “””too early””” was very stupid and tiresome, so I am here to encourage you to always do the thing that makes you more comfortable even if it seems early/stupid/too much/whatever. Life is so short, please make yourself as comfortable as you’re able.

Alright, that’s it! This month we donated to Amnesty International because they do a lot of work I am personally invested in, but specifically because the death penalty makes me so angry I get nauseated.

As always let me know if you have somewhere you think I should donate or if you want to recommend me some pop culture or if you just have something you really need to say! ashrocketship [at] gmail. Love you!
